Last July at 10,000 lakes festival in Minnesota I ingested an 1/8 of shrooms in between sets before the Lips played. They started kicking in right when they played their first song. The joy i felt at that moment as the shrooms entered my brain could have caused me to float if gravity would allow it. That whole set was like a dreamy blur filled with extreme feelings of Happiness. I hadnt done shrooms in a while due to negative experiences,but i figured the best place for a good trip to happen would be standing 2 feet away from the greatest band on the planet with a good friend of mine.

Personally this date means a lot to me. For some reason ive seen this time 11/11 a lot over the past years. It seems mystical and informative in some way. I would like to know why the Flaming Lips chose this date for their release. To me it seems right and natural. But then again maybe i'm insane. Maybe were all insane. The Mayan calendar states that on 11:11 (exact time of winter solstace) 2012 the world will aline with the center of our galaxy, there by causing the end of everything.

Asking someone to explain in words what the Flaming Lips are would be like asking someone how to talk with their soul. It can only be found in that moment when everything meets on an electric level coming from the stage or record player. It doesn't need an explanation,only a participation,a willingness to let go. If I were going to explain with human words I would just say, "Freedom". Pure freedom. Freedom from your insecurities,your addicted thoughts,your tragedies of everyday life.
